Madeleine Tonzi is an artist based in Oakland, California, making work that explores the spacial and temporal via abstract landscapes. The scenes incorporate graphic depictions of planets, moons, mountains, and portals among other symbolic elements. Suspended neon bars represent thermometers keeping track of our ongoing climate crisis, neon suns are stand-ins for the increased frequency of forest fires on the West Coast. The works as a whole are a conversation about our experience within the time and space that we inhabit.
