Susannah Kelly's works are informed by her own personal experiences and the associations she has formed around certain objects and images. The various vessels depicted represent the places in which fragments of memories, both physical and emotional, are kept. Kelly deals with human relationships in these drawings. Every memory is a conduit between the artist and the people she has known, a mental short-cut through a relationship she has been part of. Kelly’s work has always been reflective of real world, human interactions where someone’s deepest flaws often become the very reason you find them compelling. As an artist she is deeply interested in external and internal relationships and the inherent and complex trials of both.
