Neil M. Perry’s latest works are a departure from the snake focused paintings he has become known for over the past several years. During the last twelve months he has experimented with works employing full backgrounds taken from compelling urban scenes, populated by wildlife. These subjects combine with their somewhat incongruous environments to provide metaphorical commentary across a number of socio-political crises of the modern era. While climate catastrophes, the resurgence of white supremacy and the brutalism of austerity politics might at first glance seem to be disparate issues, this series explores their confluence and how it has brought us to our current moment.
