Juan Travieso is a painter based in Miami who was born in Havana, Cuba. He paints a natural world both fractured and vibrant, exploring biodiversity and human impact via semi-abstract portraits of various species of plants, birds and animals. His choice of color is always striking and in recent works has been centering the subjects on a black background which provides an intense contrast with the brilliant hues.
